Nuremberg: Tram derailed after an accident at Neutorgraben – Bavaria

Two trams collided in Nuremberg on Friday morning. One of the two trains jumped off the track. No one was injured in the collision, according to police.

The accident happened at a crossing at the Neutorgraben near the Kaiserburg. According to the police, the trams collided at around 10:50 a.m. at the intersection. “According to initial findings, we assume that the driver of one of the two trams missed a signal,” said a spokesman. According to the tram operator, Verkehrs-Aktiengesellschaft Nürnberg (VAG), both trams were normal scheduled trips with passengers – although later the display of one of the two trams read “operational trip”.

A so-called emergency vehicle is on site to heave the derailed tram back onto the track. The accident site is not known as a neuralgic point where more accidents occurred, said a spokeswoman for VAG.

Car traffic at the intersection was only slightly affected by the accident because the tram tracks and car lanes are separated here. There were delays and cancellations in tram traffic, but according to the VAG, passenger transport has been running again without restrictions since around 1 p.m.
