The girls recited a poem they had chosen and the famous prologue that the Christ Child gave on the opening day of the market. They also had to ask questions from the jury: What would you do if a child asks if you are the real Christ Child? What if a homeless person approaches you?

Girls who are between 16 and 19 years old, who live in Nuremberg, are at least 1.60 meters tall and have a head for heights had applied – these are the requirements for the post. No fear of heights, because the market is traditionally opened from the balcony of the Frauenkirche. This year, however, the opening ceremony will take place in a closed room and will be broadcast. The world-famous market will be held this year in several places in downtown Nuremberg and will last until Christmas Eve.
