Nuremberg-Reichsdorf: Demolition of historic racetrack is legal – Bavaria

According to a decision by the Ansbach Administrative Court, the historic cycle track in Nuremberg-Reichelsdorf may be demolished. The court is convinced that the renovation costs required to continue using the railway are disproportionate to any expected income. As a result, the city was allowed to give living space priority over railway preservation under monument protection law. A residential quarter is to be built on the site.

The railway is considered the oldest surviving cement railway in Europe, and the Bavarian Monument Network took legal action against its partial demolition. The decision is not final. The decision made in mid-February to temporarily stop tree felling on the site until a court decision is not affected by this court decision. The Federal Nature Conservation Agency intervened against the felling.
