With a large majority, the Nuremberg city council voted in favor of a location for an alternative venue for the state theater in the northwestern interior of the congress hall on the former Nazi party rally grounds. In the future, auditorium and stage space are to be built here, while all other necessary functional rooms are to be installed in the existing Nazi building. Mayor Marcus König (CSU) spoke of an important decision: “With the extended cultural use of this never-completed building, Nuremberg is taking a new, courageous path.” With its vote, the City Council followed a resolution proposed by the Opera House Commission on July 8th.
