Nuremberg gets a new state high school – Bavaria

Nuremberg is getting a new state high school: Prime Minister Markus Söder, Finance Minister Albert Füracker (both CSU) and Minister of Education Michael Piazolo (Free Voters) gave the green light for the new establishment on Friday. As announced by the Ministry of Education, the new grammar school is to form an educational campus on the former Prinovis site together with a technical college and a junior high school. The construction work for the grammar school should be completed by the 2027/2028 school year.

According to the forecasts for population growth, there will be more and more young people of high school age in Nuremberg in the next few years, the Ministry of Education announced. The new school will bring relief to the existing high schools. These have reached their capacity limits and can no longer be expanded spatially. With the new establishment, care is taken to ensure “that the Nuremberg schoolchildren will continue to have the opportunity to attend a grammar school in their vicinity in the future,” stressed Minister of Education Piazolo.

In addition to eight state and five municipal high schools, there are also four private and church-run high schools in Nuremberg.
