Nuremberg: Fatal attack on the homeless – man in court – Bavaria

A 49-year-old man has had to answer to the Nuremberg-Fürth district court since Tuesday because he is said to have beaten a defenseless man lying on the ground to death. Both the accused and the victim, who was 41 at the time of the crime in September last year, belonged to the Nuremberg homeless scene, according to the prosecutor’s indictment.

The accused had already committed acts of violence before the crime and had also become conspicuous during his detention. He was led into the courtroom tied up several times by security guards. According to the prosecution, on the day of the crime, the later victim was lying at his sleeping place under a bridge in downtown Nuremberg. Due to physical ailments, he was not mobile.

The defendant suddenly approached him and hit him several times in the ribs with his fist. Several ribs were broken on the victim. In addition, the massive punches would have caused internal bleeding, which would have led to the man’s death. The charge is assault resulting in death. Nine days of trial are scheduled for the trial at the district court. A verdict is expected on October 10.
