Number of Validators on Ethereum Has Surpassed 500,000

according to information from BeaconScan Ethereum Validators reached 500,000 as of Jan. 12, 2023, with 501,893 registered as of Monday.

“Validators” are users within the proof of stake network that help validate incoming transactions and blocks. To become validators, they must stake at least 32 ETH as their initial investment. That’s about $50,000 at the time of writing.

The number of Ethereum validators has been steadily increasing since the launch of Ethereum’s Beacon Chain in December 2020. However, those validators have been banned from withdrawing their stake until now. for security purposes

Despite several delays, the beacon chain was finally integrated into Ethereum’s execution layer in September 2022, changing the mechanism from proof of work to proof of stake. Implemented withdrawals before anything else, the functionality is expected to launch on the public test network in February. and will launch on mainnet in March.

Lido and RocketPool, which allows stake holders to receive stETH or rETH in return for staked assets, have also attracted significant interest. The token is as freely tradable as ETH, allowing holders to benefit from stake without sacrificing liquidity.

Last week, ConsenSys also announced that MetaMask has partnered with Lido and Rocketpool to allow users to stake and receive stETH and rETH directly within the wallet app.
