Nuclear waste: In search of the repository – knowledge

The last nuclear power plants are shut down, the last fuel elements in the cooling ponds. But what happens to the highly radioactive waste now? Why the search for a repository in this country takes so long – and why that is a problem.

The years are passing by, the question marks are getting bigger. At the beginning of May, a handful of people get together for a virtual workshop, the title is shaky: “Search for a repository takes longer – what now?” The National Advisory Committee, one of several circles with which the public is to be involved in the search for a new nuclear waste repository, has invited. Topic of the session: “Focus on professionals”.
