Economics Minister Habeck has made a sensible decision. The CDU and FDP, on the other hand, always find a reason to stick with nuclear power. The nuclear debate will not end there. This is devastating.

Christian Lindner used to know better. At the beginning of January, the head of the FDP explained to his party friends that nuclear power was “no longer an option”. There is simply no insurer for their risks. This alone proves “that nuclear energy is also not justifiable in terms of regulatory policy”. It’s been eight months since the Russian invasion of Ukraine. And now? Lindner wants to “use all possibilities”, including nuclear power. The German nuclear power plants should run at least until 2024.
