At least 115 threatening letters in three years were sent to public figures as of August 2018. Each of these letters was signed “NSU 2.0”. A signature that is supposed to remind of the right-wing terrorist group NSU.

The letters received not only nasty insults and death threats, but often also information that was not publicly available, such as private residential addresses. Initially, the investigation led into the ranks of the police themselves. The suspicion: The sensitive data are said to have been accessed by police computers. But now the Frankfurt public prosecutor’s office is bringing charges against a man who is not a police officer and has never been a police officer. A chronology of events.
