After causing two accidents, the police were able to arrest a 30-year-old. A woman was seriously injured.

A man fled after a rear-end collision on Autobahn 44 in North Rhine-Westphalia with a first responder’s car and the passenger in it – and caused another accident. The 56-year-old was seriously injured.

“Instead of helping the woman, the man continued to flee on foot,” police said. The 30-year-old is now being investigated for, among other things, deprivation of liberty, hit-and-run accident and negligent bodily harm, as a police spokeswoman said on Monday.

According to the information, the suspect drove into another car near Jüchen on Friday evening for an initially unclear reason. Shortly thereafter, he lost control of the getaway car. The police were able to locate and arrest him with the help of a helicopter. Because there is a suspicion that the 30-year-old could have taken intoxicating substances, his blood was drawn in the hospital. A result was initially pending on Monday. The seriously injured woman was also taken to a hospital.
