Now it’s official
“Young Sheldon” is getting its own spin-off
Even after “Young Sheldon” ends, there will be more stories from the “Big Bang Theory” universe – that’s now officially confirmed.
Consequently, “Young Sheldon” stars Montana Jordan (20) and Emily Osment (31) will return in their roles as George “Georgie” Cooper and his girlfriend Amanda “Mandy” McAllister. According to the report, CBS has now officially ordered the series and is planning it for the 2024/2025 TV season.
The successful team returns
Several guarantees of success are also returning away from the camera. As with “Young Sheldon”, Steve Holland, Steven Molaro and Chuck Lorre will once again serve as producers – the trio also worked together on “The Big Bang Theory”.
Variety quotes CBS Entertainment boss Amy Reisenbach: “Chuck and both Steves have done a masterful job developing these characters and entertaining generations of fans with relatable, heartwarming stories that have brought Montana and Emily to life. We are delighted We look forward to the next chapter in this beloved universe.”
No happy ending?
However, loyal “TBBT” fans should already know that Georgie and Mandy don’t have a happy ending: in the original series, the adult Georgie (played by Jerry O’Connell, 50) already has two ex-wives.
The final seventh season of “Young Sheldon” with Iain Armitage (15) in the role of Sheldon Cooper started on February 15th on CBS, and the final episode is scheduled to air on May 16th. The spin-off was launched in 2017 and tells the backstory and growing up of Cooper. The final episode of the series “The Big Bang Theory”, with Jim Parsons (50) in the role of the adult Sheldon Cooper, was screened in 2020 after 13 years.
