Novel by Aleksandar Hemon: Everything everywhere at once – culture

Aleksandar Hemon has written a novel about a Bosnian homosexual man who finds true love during the First World War and then dies in Shanghai.

“The World and Everything It Contains” is a rather pretentious title. Isn’t the fate of a novel always decided by how fortunately or less fortunately it chooses the part of the world it tells? Aleksandar Hemon obviously has something else in mind than a historical, educational or social novel, to name a few of the subgenres in which the genre otherwise goes all out.
