Notice lifted at a private service provider, another 7,300 tonnes of waste not collected

The private waste treatment company Derichebourg indicated on Monday that the strike notice filed by the CGT a week ago had been lifted, making it possible to avoid a strike in the 10th and 18th arrondissements of the capital.

In Paris, the daily collection of household waste is provided half by the management of the city of Paris and the other by private service providers.

The leader, who did not wish to detail the terms of the agreement reached, indicated that he had kept the city of Paris informed when the strike was to begin on Monday for an indefinite period.

It was the “only notice we had”, he recalled. The union organization could not be contacted immediately. The refusal of the pension reform was among the demands, behind the increase in wages, the improvement of working conditions or the reduction of working time to 32 hours.

Derichebourg is the first private player, covering the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 7th, 10th and 18th arrondissements. Sépur covers the 13th arrondissement, Urbasser the 11th and 19th and Pizzorno the 15th.

In a press release published Monday evening, the City of Paris reported an estimated 7,300 tonnes of uncollected waste in the streets of the capital, against 8,000 on Sunday and 10,500 on Friday.
