The anti-war film “Nothing New in the West” has already won six German television awards. The film won in the categories Sound Design, Camera, Make-Up, Film Music, Production Design and Best Male Supporting Role. The event is still ongoing.

The award for best supporting role goes to Schuch
Albrecht Schuch received the Lola for the best acting performance in a supporting role.
Schuch has already won four Lolas in the course of his career: Last year he was honored for his role in the drama “Lieber Thomas”, in 2020 he won two trophies for “Systemsprenger” and “Berlin Alexanderplatz”.

The German Film Prize is one of the most important awards in the industry. The nominations and awards are endowed with a total of around three million euros for new projects. Around 1,600 guests were invited to the award ceremony in the theater on Potsdamer Platz. The evening was moderated by Jasmin Shakeri.
Roth draws attention to grievances
But there was also room for serious topics: Minister of State for Culture Claudia Roth called for an open discussion of abuses in the industry at the celebration in Berlin. The Greens politician said: “We are also here to clearly name problems: dependencies, abuse of power, physical assaults, sexualized violence on the set.”

Roth announces reformation of film demands
Anyone who openly criticizes these abuses, “whoever demands that they be stopped and ostracized as a polluter” – can count on their support. It needs an honest and open discussion.

It must be possible to talk about what is going wrong and what can be improved, about what structures need to be changed so that a film set is a place where films are made in a good, creative and constructive working atmosphere. What stands in the way, they could change together, said Roth.
Roth wants to reform film funding
Roth announced that he wanted to reform film funding. And then it’s also about working conditions and framework conditions improving and a code of conduct (code of conduct) is binding and not Sunday talk.
