Nose fracture and concussion for Victor Muffat-Jeandet after a heavy fall

Author of a promising first run on Saturday during the Adelboden giant slalom, with the 7th fastest time despite his bib number 21, Victor Muffat-Jeandet fell heavily at the start of the second after being unbalanced on a bump, ending in the nets after hitting the track with his head.

Hospitalized in Switzerland, the French skier “was successfully operated on for a broken nose”, indicated this Sunday the French Ski Federation. The 33-year-old Savoyard “will be repatriated” during the day to France for an “additional examination” of his left knee, said the FFS.

Transported by helicopter to hospital in Bern, the skier suffered, in addition to his sores on his nose, cuts to his right hand “as well as a concussion”, the federation said on Saturday.

Muffat-Jeandet returned to the slopes in the fall after a 2022 season cut short by a fibula fracture in early January during the Zagreb slalom, which cost him the Beijing Olympics. He was due to take part this Sunday in the Adelboden slalom, the first run of which begins at 10:30 a.m., and will be replaced by Léo Anguenot, 16th in the giant on Saturday.
