Harald V. of Norway was hospitalized this Thursday. The palace has clarified his health condition.

Norway’s King Harald (85) was hospitalized in Oslo this Thursday (4 August). Like the palace in a message announced the monarch was being examined for fever at Rikshospitalet University Hospital. His condition is “stable”.

Sailing competition in July

Most recently, the 85-year-old took part in a sailing world championship on Lake Geneva. “It was a long day for the crew, with up to seven hours at a time on the water and slightly changing positions. But with a good last day, ‘Sira’ climbed into the top 10 by one point,” it said in an Instagram postwhich shows pictures with King Harald on board the ship.

In March 2022, Harald V. of Norway tested positive for the coronavirus and was put on sick leave. At the end of January, Crown Prince Haakon (49) had meanwhile taken over his father’s official business, who was unable to work due to cold symptoms. The monarch has been on sick leave several times in recent years, including in 2020 when he underwent surgery for a new heart valve.
