Several people were killed and injured in an act of violence in Norway. The Norwegian police announced this at a press conference. The act took place around 6.30 p.m. in the center of the city of Kongsberg, which is located about 80 kilometers southwest of Oslo.
The perpetrator was allegedly armed with a bow and arrow and was caught shortly after the crime. “According to our information so far, he carried out the acts alone,” said Police Chief Øyvind Aas. There is no search for further perpetrators.
The injured were taken to the hospital. The police chief cannot yet say exactly how many victims there were. The background to the crime is also still unclear. It is too early to answer the question of whether it could have been an act motivated by terrorism.
