A bridge almost 150 meters long collapsed in Norway. A car and a truck that were on the wooden bridge at the time of the accident partially slid into the water.

A river bridge collapsed in southern Norway, taking a truck and a car with it. The two drivers were rescued and unharmed, a police spokesman told TV2 on Monday. The two drivers are doing well, said a police spokesman for the German Press Agency. “We cannot say for sure if there were other people on the bridge,” he added. At this point in time, however, there is no information about other victims.

Norway: Reason for bridge collapse still unclear

The truck driver had to be rescued by helicopter in the accident in the village of Tretten. The person in the car was able to free himself. According to the police, all local rescue workers were dispatched to the wooden bridge.

The 148 meter long and 10 meter wide wooden bridge over the river Lågen was inaugurated in 2012. It has two lanes for cars and a pedestrian walkway. The spokesman was initially unable to say why it collapsed.
