Status: 09.12.2021 9:18 a.m.

In the early morning, police officers searched objects in eight cities and towns as well as in Luxembourg. The raid is intended to crush a suspected drug gang that appears to be involved in a marijuana trade.

Hundreds of police forces from North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse and Luxembourg have searched numerous buildings and arrested a suspected gang. According to the Oberhausen criminal police, there were searches in Oberhausen, Medebach, Heinsberg, Lüdenscheid, Bottrop, Gelsenkirchen, Essen as well as in Korbach and Strassen in Luxembourg.

In the objects, the investigators looked for evidence that should further corroborate the urgent suspicion against members of a gang that the Duisburg public prosecutor accuses of extensive nationwide marijuana trade.

Police report arrests

The action started in the morning hours. Shortly after 6.30 a.m., the Oberhausen police announced: “A few minutes ago, investigators from the Oberhausen Criminal Police, supported by strong forces from neighboring police authorities and operational units from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse, secured access to numerous buildings in which court-ordered arrest warrants and search warrants are currently being held be enforced. ”

The police initially did not want to comment on the extent to which drugs were found in the large-scale operation. The police and the public prosecutor’s office want to take stock of the action in the course of the day. The preliminary investigation is being conducted at the Duisburg public prosecutor’s office.
