For three years and the Covid-19 pandemic, North Korea has been sealed off. But Pyongyang has decided to authorize the entry of foreign nationals into its territory, Chinese state television CCTV reported on Monday.
According to CCTV, foreign nationals will be subject to two days of isolation upon arrival. However, the official North Korean press has not relayed any information at this stage concerning a reopening of the borders.
Signs of reopening
North Korea has largely cut itself off from the outside world since early 2020 when the country closed its borders, including to its own nationals, due to the pandemic.
But it began to show signs of reopening this month, with the visit of its leader Kim Jong-un to Russia and the sending of athletes to the Asian Games in Hangzhou (China).
