UN resolutions actually ban North Korea from testing ballistic missiles – but the regime has apparently ignored it again. The IAEA sees signs of another nuclear test soon.
North Korea has again fired a potentially nuclear-capable missile, according to the South Korean military. After the launch, the rocket flew in the direction of the sea in the east, the general staff said. The missile was therefore a ballistic missile. Initially, no further details were known.

North Korea has been conducting missile tests at an unusually high frequency since the end of September. According to the government itself, this should also simulate the shelling of airfields in South Korea with tactical nuclear weapons.
Concern about a possible nuclear test
According to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), there are increasing indications of an imminent nuclear test by North Korea. “We hope it doesn’t happen, but unfortunately the signs are pointing in the opposite direction,” said IAEA chief Rafael Grossi.
The IAEA observes corresponding preparations in the autocracy. Everyone is holding their breath because of this, Grossi said. A nuclear test would be further confirmation that the program is “moving full steam ahead in an incredibly worrying manner” and that Pyongyang is continuing to refine its arsenal.
