“Normandy, region of France most affected by lightning strikes this morning”

Normandy woke up to thunderstorms and heavy rainfall this Thursday morning. And the lightning helped to make the phenomenon certainly expected impressive.

“It started on the South Channel by taking the direction of the Côte Fleurie,” explains Christopher Bridet, administrator of the Météo Basse NORMANDIE Facebook page. “In terms of lightning strikes, I think we are the most impacted region in France.”

According to the Meteociel site, more than 12,000 lightning strikes were recorded in Calvados between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. this morning. Be careful if you take the road, because once past the storms could return in the morning. Calvados and Orne are on orange alert until midday.

“A reactivation of thunderstorms could take place in the middle / late afternoon. You will have to be vigilant because these thunderstorms can sometimes be stationary with a strong accumulation of rain,“ warns Christopher Bridet.

Cancellation of the arrival of 4,000 underprivileged children in Cabourg

The placement in orange vigilance of the five departments of Normandy on Wednesday evening had canceled the arrival this Thursday of 4,000 disadvantaged children from Ile de France who had planned to spend the day on the beach of Cabourg.
This is the first time in 44 years that this day organized as part of the Secours Populaire Holiday Forgotten program has been cancelled. Some children will still be able to enjoy the Beauval zoo this Thursday
