Norwegian combined athlete Riiber celebrates his 70th World Cup victory
On the second day in Estonia, a Norwegian is once again at the top of the World Cup podium and is celebrating an anniversary. The German combined athletes run strong again, but miss the podium.
Norwegian Nordic combined athlete Jarl Magnus Riiber also won the second of three races in Otepää, Estonia.
The 26-year-old celebrated his 70th World Cup victory. After a jump of 98 meters, he entered the trail in third place, 10 seconds behind local hero Kristjan Ilves (97 meters). In the finish sprint, Riiber prevailed with a lead of 0.4 seconds over the Estonian. The Austrian Johannes Lamparter (+3.2 seconds) came third ahead of his compatriot Stefan Rettenegger (+6.8 seconds), who set a hill record with 102.5 meters.
Johannes Rydzek showed a strong recovery in the cross-country skiing over 10 kilometers and finished fifth, 27.9 seconds behind. After a jump of 94 meters, he entered the trail in eighth place, 34 seconds behind. Manuel Faißt finished tenth, Vinzenz Geiger ran from 27th to 13th and crossed the finish line behind his teammate Terence Weber (12th). David Mach (16th), Julian Schmid (17th) and Wendelin Thannheimer (21st) also collected World Cup points.
