Noisy-le-Sec hosts one of the only Banksy exhibitions that the street artist “does not denounce”

“An exhibition between street art and solidarity. » From Saturday to May 26, Banksy arrives in Noisy-le-Sec (Seine-Saint-Denis) across the Banksy Modest Collection. Launched in 2021, the 12th edition of this exhibition returns to Seine-Saint-Denis, a mecca of the street-art scene where it began.

According to the organizers, the Banksy Modest Collection is more than just an exhibition. They portray it more as a cultural event: “A celebration of creativity and a testimony to the lasting power of art to provoke, inspire and unite around humanist and supportive values that bring people together. »

A free exhibition

For what ? Because the event is not limited to exhibiting the works of the world’s most famous urban artist. Indeed, more than 60 associations are joining the party so that Banksy’s work highlights the missions they accomplish on a daily basis, to meet and raise visitors’ awareness of the social, environmental and humanitarian issues addressed by the artist. . “The collection thus becomes a transitional object for volunteers with the public,” explains the organizers.

The exhibition was born from the meeting between the actor Béru and a graphic designer in 2007 in London. It was only a few weeks later that Béru realized that the artist in question was Banksy. Touched by the works, the spirit and the struggles of the artist, he decided to start collecting tickets, exhibition tickets, stencils used by the artist in his creations, exhibition posters, postcards, drawings or even low-run screen prints, etc. Enough to offer an exceptional… and free exhibition.

Funds raised “for a more humane world”

“The exhibition is free, as is the street art that Banksy offers to the public. A cultural but also solidarity event (each visitor is invited to make a donation) whose mission is to raise funds for those who act for a more humane and fairer world. Without doubt the reason why this exhibition is one of the only ones that Banksy has not denounced,” explain the organizers.

Our Banksy file

Better still, each visitor-donor will receive a “collector” poster of the exhibition or, depending on their donation, the screen print (limited and numbered series) inspired by a work by Banksy, exclusively published for the Noisy-le event. -Dry.
