Zero alcohol levels: This non-alcoholic sparkling wine proves that zero percent is no longer just a kid’s thing

There are now many alcohol-free sparkling wines, but when buying one you should definitely pay attention to how it was made.

The zero-percent sparkling wine has not yet come close to its alcoholic big brother, but these are now really fun. Stern expert Ilona from thetastebar.de explains which ones are worth popping the cork.

Unfortunately, most non-alcoholic (sparkling) wine available in supermarkets is either acidic like vinegar or sugary like sparkling wine. Therefore, when buying non-alcoholic versions, make sure that the grapes have been fermented first, just like in the production of conventional wine.

The non-alcoholic sparkling wines still don’t taste exactly like the real thing, but they can definitely impress. We were particularly impressed by two different sparkling wine brands. Vinada from the Netherlands and Ein-Zwei-Zero from Germany, which use traditional production methods and allow the grapes to ferment for several months before removing the alcohol using patented vacuum technology.

Sparkling wine that doesn’t lack alcohol

Vinada Crispy Chardonnay 0.0%

This dry, foamy Chardonnay from the French Languedoc is full of aroma and taste. With notes of melon, apple and citrus, it is crisp and refreshing with plenty of bubbles. Of theVinada Crispy Chardonnay is the 2021 Gold Award Winner at the IWCS Awards and really is a great substitute for the traditional Brut.

One-Two-Zero Sparkling Riesling 0.0%

The German wine manufacturer Leitz is behind this wonderful non-alcoholic sparkling wine, which is made from 100 percent Riesling grapes. The one grown and produced in the Rhine Riesling sparkling wine is dry and slightly acidic, typical of Riesling grapes, and has notes of citrus and apple. The acidity of the Riesling grapes goes perfectly with fruity aperitifs.
