Twenty-four hours after the disappearance of a teenager in Saint-Brice, in the south of Mayenne, the mystery remains unsolved. “The first elements collected, which must now be exploited, do not allow as it stands to rule out any leads, whether criminal, accidental or fugue”, said during a press point on Tuesday the prosecutor of the Republic of Laval, Céline Maigné, specifying that the investigation is now open on the count of “kidnapping and sequestration”.
The disappearance of the young girl, reported Monday around 6:40 pm by her parents, was immediately taken seriously by the gendarmerie. Not seeing her come back from her jogging, her father went on the route she used to take and discovered, at the edge of the Bellebranche forest, between the municipalities of Saint-Loup-du -Dorat and Saint-Brice, personal items belonging to him – including headphones, according to
Europe 1, which revealed the case. On the latter, traces which could be likened to blood would have been detected. Elements that however did not confirm the magistrate.
“Absolute priority”
The research device quickly ramped up to explore this area of approximately 190 hectares, “wooded and dotted with bodies of water”: this Tuesday at the end of the afternoon, nearly 200 soldiers were mobilized, including divers and dog teams. “The common goal of the investigation and justice services is to find this young girl as quickly as possible and to clarify the conditions of her disappearance. Putting an end to the worries of those close to her and providing her with the help she may need is an absolute priority, ”insisted the prosecutor, who described a“ inserted, athletic ”teenage girl, continuing her studies in a high school in the region. .
If the magistrate did not go into the details of the case to preserve the investigations, Céline Maigné wished to recall that a quick release made the perpetrator incur a tort – and not a criminal one. She finally confirmed that a drunk man had been arrested on Monday evening and was still in police custody this evening with the aim in particular “of clearing up his schedule”. The latter was reportedly arrested after several calls to the gendarmerie to inquire about the progress of the investigation.
