Apple is not currently working on a new generation of the HomePod mini, according to information from Apple insider Mark Gurman. Regardless, you can already look forward to the coming week. This will bring new features to the HomePod mini.

Bloomberg: “No new HomePod mini in the works”

In the latest issue of his PowerOn newsletters Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman addresses various Apple-related topics. That’s how he discusses it, among other things new MacBook Pro with M2 Pro and M2 Maxthe new Mac mini with M2 and M2 Pro as well as the new HomePod (2nd generation). All three products were announced in the past week.

When asked about a new HomePod mini, Gurman says the following

After the debut of the new HomePod (2nd generation), many users asked for an update for the mini model. But as of this writing, I don’t think Apple is actively working on such a product. The latest HomePod doesn’t include any major new features that aren’t already in the $99 Mini. Therefore, there is no obvious reason to update the model. Sure, it would be nice to get more colors, a cheaper price, and better sound and mics, but the real improvements probably need to be made on the backend – with Siri and app integration.

The HomePod mini was launched alongside the iPhone 12 in October 2020. Half a year later, Apple discontinued the HomePod. Last week, this celebrated its comeback in the second generation.

For tomorrow Monday the release of iOS 16.3, iPadOS 16.3, HomePod Software 16.3 and Co. is expected. The new HomePod mini software switches among other things the temperature and humidity sensor active, who has been on board since the start of sales. The update also offers improved HomeKit support and more Siri options. With a later Apple still brings the sound detection on its speakers.
