“No need to go do the bamba”, urges the boss of the AP-HP Martin Hirsch before the holidays

“The party is over”, sang Orelsan in 2017. Four years and a coronavirus pandemic later, it is the director of the AP-HP Martin Hirsch who announces on
RTL this Monday it is “not worth going to bamba everywhere” at the end of the year, just before the holidays. If the announcement is less dreamy than the album of the rapper from Caen, the idea is to avoid foolishly contaminating yourself before reuniting with family, including some particularly fragile relatives.

“That we try to preserve (…) the fact that we get together as a family because it helps to feel good at a time when we need it, OK. But on the other hand, it is not worth going to bamba everywhere. (…) Otherwise, we are going to put the hospital really in a carafe, ”he warns, recalling that the hospital is already with a large occupation of its beds, and caregivers suffering from two years of epidemic. Each new preventable patient is therefore good to take.

Faced with this flow of Covid-19 patients, the director of the AP-HP needs many caregivers, while they are preparing to leave in a few days for Christmas. Martin Hirsch then proposed to his troops to postpone their vacation for remuneration. For ten days shifted during the precious Christmas, caregivers could receive up to 2,000 euros. More than 14,000 people are hospitalized on Monday in France due to the coronavirus, a figure up 22% over one week.
