Anyone who wants to apply for social benefits often has to go to various authorities. The SPD wants to bundle this into a central contact point.

“We want to make access to numerous welfare state benefits as easy as possible,” the paper says. “Everyday organization in Germany is already complicated enough,” said the deputy SPD parliamentary group leader Dagmar Schmidt to the star about the project: “If a difficult or changing life situation is added, many people feel overwhelmed by bureaucracy and complexity.” The planned one Citizen service should make life easier: “The days in which citizens are sent from authority to authority must be over.”
