Anyone who wants to apply for social benefits often has to go to various authorities. The SPD wants to bundle this into a central contact point.
Beyond legal circles and jurisdictions
“We want to make access to numerous welfare state benefits as easy as possible,” the paper says. Therefore, in the future, numerous services should be able to be applied for via a “citizen service”, regardless of which legal circles or jurisdictions they are actually located in: “The citizen service should be available to people in the places where they need it.” This could be “im “But also at work, outreach or in the digital space.” According to the plan, the citizen service points should also provide “person-centered advice on all welfare state services.”
“Everyday life is complicated enough”
“Everyday organization in Germany is already complicated enough,” said the deputy SPD parliamentary group leader Dagmar Schmidt to the star about the project: “If a difficult or changing life situation is added, many people feel overwhelmed by bureaucracy and complexity.” The planned one Citizen service should make life easier: “The days in which citizens are sent from authority to authority must be over.”
