No more complicated repairs: Windows introduces new self-healing function

Tired of digging through complex guides to fix small problems with your Windows operating system? Microsoft has a solution ready for you. With the introduction of a new self-healing feature in Windows, the troubleshooting process has been made much easier.

Stubborn Windows problems can often be solved with a so-called In place update remedy. But this is reserved for more advanced users, because you also need a few steps to prepare (see below).

The good news: Microsoft integrates this repair function directly into Windows. Then only two mouse clicks necessary and Windows repairs itself. With this, Microsoft declares war on PC problems with a practical function.

New repair function in Windows

Windows repair becomes much easier.

In Windows 11 build 25905 the new function was implemented. In German Windows it is called “Resolve problems using Windows Update” and can be found under “System/Restoration”.

If you click on “Reinstall now”, you first get the appropriate ISO version for the installed Windows via Windows Update, after which this version is practically installed over the existing system. Apps, documents and settings are retained.

This type of repair requires a system reboot. For users, this looks similar to installing an update. The new feature is available to Windows Insiders on the Canary Channel.

If it is not displayed, you can unlock it using ViVeTool or the StagingTool. The matching ID is 39847173.

Use the inplace update now

Windows ISO files can be loaded using the Media Creation Tool, for example.

In principle, you can already use the repair method with Inplace Upgrade today. You need a Windows ISO file for this. As a helper, you can also use the Media Creation Tool.

However, you do not have to copy the ISO file to a USB stick. You can mount it directly, then you will see the contents of the file mi explorer and after that you just need to run the windows setup. Windows is practically simply installed over an existing system.

With the inplace updates, the update lock in Windows 11 for unsupported hardware can also be bypassed.
