The CHU had been the victim of “an intrusion into its information system” on Thursday March 9 at 8:33 p.m. No details have been released on the type of cyberattack in question. “We do not receive any e-mail”, specifies the CHU on Monday, inviting its patients to bring a paper version of their results and reports.

The establishment is still able to receive patients. “Our software works internally and our teams can welcome you. Please accept our apologies for these inconveniences,” the hospital said to its patients. No return to normal is expected for several weeks, said an internal source.
Brest University Hospital covers a territory comprising a population of 1.2 million inhabitants and employs more than 6,500 people. In France, public establishments never pay ransoms because the law forbids them to do so.
