“No final line!”: Theatrical action on the terror of the NSU – culture

Resist the everyday and structural racism in our society – and don’t forget what happened. That is the whole point of the large-scale Action “No line!”, in which theaters from all over Germany deal with the NSU terror from October 21st to November 7th. Stagings, live radio plays, concerts, readings, workshops and a large number of other events are planned.

Above all, the perspectives of the victims and the migrant communities should be the focus. Participants include large stages such as the Münchner Kammerspiele, the State Theater in Nuremberg or the Schauspiel Köln, as well as district cultural centers and independent production houses, such as Kampnagel in Hamburg. Many East German theaters are involved (Chemnitz, Eisenach, Jena, Plauen-Zwickau, Rostock, Rudolstadt, Weimar). They see themselves as a “counter-network” against the NSU.

The project is being implemented by a cooperation network of theaters and institutions in 15 cities that have founded the Licht ins Dunkel eV association as a sponsoring association. “It turned out to be a really really big project,” said theater producer Amelie Deuflhard on Monday when the project was presented, “a model cooperation.” The reason for the initiative is a bitter anniversary: On November 4th, it will be ten years since the NSU terrorists Uwe Mundlos and Uwe Böhnhardt were found dead. The “National Socialist Underground” murdered eight small migrant entrepreneurs and one policewoman.
