Nintendo unveils Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Detective Pikachu Returns

After a ten-year hiatus, Mario finally returns to a classic 2D platformer. Nintendo announces Super Mario Bros Wonder which will be released on October 20th for Nintendo Switch. True to the name, up to four cooperative players wonder about bizarre transformations as soon as they touch a magic flower. Warp tubes become crawling giant caterpillars, bulls inflate themselves into rolling balls, and frenzied hordes of dinosaurs gallop into the picture.

Each level has more surprises in store that change the gameplay. These include transforming into a kind of spiked pinball or being able to expand Mario’s shadowy body to around ten times its length. As in the previous series New Super Mario Bros. Nintendo attaches great importance to cooperation between four people. Some chaotic moments in the trailer are reminiscent of the co-op excesses in Rayman Legends with hair-raising obstacle hunts.
