Nino Haratischwili in an interview about the war in Ukraine – Culture

Nino Haratischwili is best known in Germany for her novels. In “The Eighth Life (For Brilka)”, “The Cat and the General” and most recently “The Lack of Light” she spans the arc from Georgia via Eastern Europe to Germany. The 40-year-old, who has lived in Germany for 20 years, is also a widely performed playwright. Her piece “Phädra, in Flames”, which premiered in June as a collaboration between the Berliner Ensemble and the Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen, premiered on Saturday at Vienna’s Burgtheater. In the interview, Haratischwili talks about the 15th anniversary of the Russian war against Georgia – and about the Russian attack on Ukraine.
