The bad weather continues in 2024. Météo-France kept nine departments on orange alert for “rain-flood” or “floods”, Tuesday January 2. In detail, Finistère, Pas-de-Calais, Manche, Orne, Mayenne, Sarthe, Loire-Atlantique, and Vendée are still placed on orange alert for “rain-flood”. Morbihan is no longer concerned. Furthermore, Finistère, Nord and Pas-de-Calais are affected by orange vigilance for “floods”, precise Météo-France.

“Marked precipitation” are expected “on the northern half of the country”details the forecasting institute. “The highest accumulations particularly concern the sectors already previously affected in Montreuillois as well as the heights of Boulonnais and Artois” in Pas-de-Calais. Furthermore, strong gusts are expected in Finistère, “between 90 and 100 km/h inland (…) and 100/120 km/h along the coasts”.

The “rain-flood” watch should end at 3 p.m. On Wednesday, only the North, Pas-de-Calais and Finistère will still be affected by the “flood” alert, according to Météo-France.
