Nine beautiful winter hikes around Munich – Munich

Building igloos with the children, going on a torchlight hike, tobogganing or simply hiking up the mountains: that’s how easy it is to get rid of the winter blues. Nine tips not far from Munich.

Borderline

If you can’t or don’t want to decide whether you’d rather stay in beautiful Bavaria or go hiking with your Tyrolean neighbors, the hike up to the Ederkanzel high above Mittenwald is the right choice. The cute mountain inn is named after the Royal Bavarian Forester Hubert Eder, who had a high stand built here in 1900, which grew over the years from a viewing tower with a refreshment room to an inn. And that has a special feature: in the restaurant you sit in Bavaria, but on the terrace you sit in Tyrol, which is highly recommended given the wonderful view of Karwendel, Wetterstein and the Leutaschtal. The climb from Mittenwald (almost 300 meters in altitude) takes about three quarters of an hour and is also easy to do with children, ideally via the forest nature trail on the Burgberg.
