Nils Wülker has merged his jazz quartet with an orchestra – culture

There are those moments in a work where everything comes together in a nuance. Perhaps at the concert by jazz trumpeter Nils Wülker with the Munich Radio Orchestra this summer evening at Circus Krone, one is a bit overreceptive to something like that. Outside, the glorious weather has broken the heat, inside the arena is filled to the last meter with instruments and musicians. Bayerischer Rundfunk has placed a monumental screen under the circus dome because it is recording the concert as “Space Night”. That’s why a recording of the dark side of the moon can be seen, when this moment not only sums up Wülker’s orchestral suite “Continuum”, but also his understanding of music.
