Bang in the Bundesliga: Bayern star Niklas Süle (26) moves to Borussia Dortmund!
The centre-back has agreed to a free transfer in the summer. Dortmund announces this on their website. The contract with Borussia should run until 2026.
BVB sporting director Michael Zorc (59): “We are pleased that we were able to sign a German national player in Niklas Süle and retain him for four years.”
Zorc continues: “Niklas showed us in personal conversations that he is very interested in Borussia Dortmund. He has a lot of experience, calmness in the build-up game and the necessary physique to take the next step with us from the summer.”
First, the “Frankfurter Rundschau” reported on the change. This report coincides with BILD information. FC Bayern itself is said to have only found out about Süle’s move to BVB on Monday.
At FC Bayern, Niklas Süle had recently received a contract offer of 10 million euros, which he rejected. He had hoped for an offer of around 15 million euros, similar to the contract extensions of wing star Kingsley Coman (25), who should receive almost 17 million euros after the contract extension and also similar to Leon Goretzka (27/18 million) and Joshua Kimmich (26/up to 20 million).
It was only on Sunday that his manager Volker Struth (55) revealed in “Sport 1 Doppelpass” that the new club has already been decided. He also said that the reason for the change was that “Süle should not have felt valued.”
It is also known: Nagelsmann is not happy about the Süle departure! The Bayern coach has a very good relationship with his central defender. The national player has played 19 times in 21 Bundesliga games so far this season. The two have known each other for almost ten years. Nagelsmann made Süle in Hoffenheim’s U17s from ten to defender.

Under ex-coach Hansi Flick (56), the central defender returned after a corona quarantine with fitness problems and being slightly overweight. Flick even deleted Süle from the squad for two games.
According to BILD information, the bosses were often critical of Süle’s attitude. The statements by ex-board boss Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (66) on “Sky” were therefore significant: “He was always a useful player! The problem is: I think he never really asserted himself in his position.
Struth also drew comparisons between Süle and Kroos’ departure to Real in 2014 in the “double pass”. At the time, he also complained about the lack of appreciation. Struth: “Niklas Süle reminds me of Toni Kroos. If he’s there, fine, if not, then fine too.”
