Night of urban violence in Vaulx-en-Velin and Bourgoin-Jallieu

Projectile throws, fireworks mortars and garbage fires enamelled the evening of Friday at Vaulx-en-Velin (Lyon metropolitan area) as well as
Bourgoin-Jallieu (Isère) where two police officers were injured, you learned from corroborating sources. Later in the evening, several garbage fires in the neighborhood were extinguished by firefighters, under the protection of the police, the latter twice wiping fireworks, including those of a group of about fifteen people grouped together at a social center. During this sequence, the police proceeded to two arrests for fires of garbage cans and a last for not respecting the curfew.

Shortly before midnight, the scenario was then repeated in the Champ-Fleuri district, where a dozen individuals “dressed in black” set fire to the garbage cans and where police officers were also the target of mortars. The latter responded with LBD fire and tear gas canisters, quickly bringing calm to the scene. In Vaulx-en-Velin, in the early evening, a group of young people traveling on scooters fired mortars in the direction of the city police station, said the Rhône prefecture.

A second episode of similar shooting took place later in the evening in the sensitive district of Mas-du-Taureau where an anti-crime squad patrol was targeted. The police used tear gas to ward off the attackers without being able to stop them. No injuries are to be deplored. An investigation is underway at the Vaulx-en-Velin police station to shed light on these facts.
