Nicolas Sarkozy hails Marine Le Pen and her “progress” in her new book

The sanitary cordon that surrounded the French extreme right no longer exists for many political figures. Among them, Nicolas Sarkozy. The former president is releasing a new book, titled The time of battles scheduled for release on August 22 and in which he evokes Marine Le Pen.

At the heart of the book, of which BFMTV was able to consult extracts and which covers the period between 2009 and 2011 at the Elysée Palace, Nicolas Sarkozy salutes the “progress” of the far-right leader. The Rassemblement national succeeded for the first time since the end of the 1980s in creating a parliamentary group.

The opposition group “the most important in the Assembly”

“She knows her files better and knows how to present them with more calm, strength and moderation”, underlines the former tenant of the Elysée. Nicolas Sarkozy also adds that he “never liked his demonization”. “How, moreover, at the same time, accuse her of not being a Republican and authorize her to present candidates until she obtains 89 deputies? he wonders.

The former president also believes that a far-right deputy should have taken the presidency of the Finance Committee, in place of the LFI deputy Éric Coquerel. “The most important opposition group in the National Assembly is the National Rally. Whether we like it or not,” he said.
