Nicolas Holveck, former president of Stade Rennais, died of cancer at 52

Sad news has just hit French football this Monday. The current president of AS Nancy Lorraine (National) Nicolas Holveck has died at the age of 52, announces the Lorraine club in a press release. The manager had been battling colon cancer for several years.

“It is with immense sadness that we learned this morning of the death of our president Nicolas Holveck,” explains the ASNL. He fought against illness until the end. Also deputy general manager of AS Monaco in 2014, Nicolas Holveck once again withdrew from Nancy for “medical reasons” last month. His most visible stint for the general public will therefore remain the succession of Olivier Létang in Ligue 1, as president of Stade Rennais, from March 2020 and on the sidelines of the Covid-19 pandemic. He announced his cancer in March 2021, while continuing to serve as president of the Breton club until May 2022.
