The chairman of the parliamentary group, Katja Pähle, warned against going into the opposition with a view to the difficult situation of the Left Party. Instead, the SPD should work harder to better communicate established successes.
Other comrades called for advocacy, at least in coalition negotiations, for issues such as more climate protection and better integration of refugees in the labor market.
Deputy state chairwoman Katharina Zacharias spoke out in favor of joining the opposition. She does not want to be “emotionally blackmailed” by the CDU. As a coalition partner, the party would never have done anything for the SPD. Another speaker suggested organizing vigils in front of CDU offices, should the party increase the daycare fees again without the SPD.
Jusos fail with an application to stipulate a minimum wage of 13 euros for the negotiating team
In addition to the proposal of the state executive for coalition negotiations, there had also been a proposal from the ranks of the party youth, the Jusos. In this, for example, a minimum wage of 13 euros for public contracts was called for as the “red line” for a possible coalition agreement. So far, the SPD, CDU and FPD have only agreed that this so-called minimum wage should be higher than the statutory minimum wage of currently 9.60 euros per hour.
Katrin Budde also promoted the Juso application. The former state chairman also accused her party of “self-deception” in her speech if she was to blame the CDU for the election result. “People tell me: We don’t understand you anymore,” Budde called out to the party congress.
