Newcastle United: will Paulo Fonseca be the new coach?

The nouveau riche Newcastle United recently parted ways with Steve Bruce. Paulo Fonseca should now be the new coach.

After the departure of coach Steve Bruce, Newcastle United is looking for a successor. Apparently a surprise is looming.

According to information from Guardian the Magpies and their potent new financiers deal with Paulo Fonseca. The talks should therefore be well advanced.

The 48-year-old Portuguese coached AS Roma in the Italian Serie A from 2019 to 2021. Fonseca, who previously won three consecutive Ukrainian champions with Shakhtar Donetsk, has been without a club since this summer.

Newcastle United: Favre and Gerrard were also traded

In addition to Fonseca, ex-BVB coach Lucien Favre and current Rangers coach Steven Gerrard were also considered potential successors to Bruce.

Bruce had given up his position as team manager on Wednesday by “mutual agreement”, as announced by the second-bottom of the Premier League.

A Saudi consortium, which is largely influenced by the Saudi Arabian state fund under the control of the highly controversial Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, recently took over Newcastle for the equivalent of around 350 million euros. The Premier League waved the deal through despite vehement criticism from human rights organizations.
