In Mauritius, airport employees found a newborn baby in an aircraft toilet. The boy was lying there in a trash can. Shortly afterwards, a 20-year-old woman was arrested.

In Mauritius, airport employees found a newborn boy who had been left in the trash can of an aircraft toilet. A 20-year-old woman from Madagascar, who is suspected of having given birth to the child during the flight, is said to have been arrested, among other things the BBC reports.

According to the report, the Air Mauritius plane from Madagascar landed at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport on January 1st. After all passengers disembarked, the aircraft was routinely inspected by customs officers and crew members. They found that the toilet door was stuck. Inside, they heard a baby crying.

The officers and crew members were able to open the door. In the trash can they finally discovered the crying baby wrapped in toilet paper. In the airport building, they chased a 20-year-old who they believed could be the newborn’s mother.

According to the Mauritian portal “Zinfos Moris”, the Madegassin came to Mauritius with a two-year work permit to work in a call center. The young woman initially denied that the boy was hers. She later finally admitted giving birth shortly after the plane took off. At the interrogation, however, she assured that she had not known about her pregnancy.

She was taken to a hospital where her placenta was removed. She was placed under police surveillance at the hospital. Both she and the baby are reportedly doing fine. You are now facing criminal prosecution.
