In mid-April, a man shot himself on a New York subway. Now the prosecution speaks of terrorist motives for the suspect.

After the dramatic attack in the New York subway with shots and more than 20 injuries, the alleged perpetrator has been charged with terrorism, among other things.

The man committed an act with intent to cause death and serious bodily harm, according to the indictment released by a New York court on Saturday. The 62-year-old is accused of opening fire on a subway train in the Brooklyn borough during the morning rush hour in mid-April. More than 20 people were injured by gunfire or the resulting panic. The perpetrator was initially able to escape, but was caught a day later in Manhattan. If convicted, he faces a life sentence.
