Where are Munich residents allowed to toast with sparkling wine on the street on New Year’s Eve? Can rockets be fired? And what about celebrating for those who have been vaccinated, those who have recovered and who have not been vaccinated? An overview of the rules for the turn of the year:
A Alcohol consumption ban has been available in Munich since December 8th daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. in the pedestrian zone including Marienplatz and on the Viktualienmarkt. For New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Eve, the city expands again. The outside areas of restaurants during opening hours are excluded from the regulation. The city of Munich determined the locations together with the police, announced the district administration department as the regulatory authority. So that at least a small group of people can celebrate New Year’s Eve, the closing hour from 10 p.m. in the gastronomy.
Stricter regulations apply across Bavaria on New Year’s Eve, especially for public Meetings on “popular places” and their surroundings. There is a ban on gatherings with more than ten people. In Munich these are the city center with the pedestrian zone and the Viktualienmarkt, Baldeplatz, Friedensengel, Olympiaberg and its adjacent green spaces, Nymphenburg Palace and the Wittelsbacher, Reichenbach and Cornelius bridges.
Also on private gatherings No more than ten people have been allowed to come together since Tuesday, regardless of New Year’s Eve. This also applies to those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered. As soon as an unvaccinated person is present, the contact restrictions for unvaccinated people apply, regardless of whether in public spaces or at home: According to this, meetings are only possible with members of your own household and a maximum of two other people from another household – regardless of their vaccination status. Children under the age of 14 are not included. The upper limit of ten people also applies to private events in rented rooms. Dance events are prohibited, and bars, clubs, discos and brothels are closed anyway.
