New therapy places for the treatment of post-Covid – Bavaria

Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU) warns of the post-Covid syndrome as a “complex clinical picture” that, according to experts, affects around ten percent of all adults suffering from corona. According to a statement on Friday, he found out about new treatment approaches in a project funded by the state government at the Clinic for Integrative Medicine and Naturopathy of the Bamberg Social Foundation. Integrative medicine can “help us to treat these long-term effects by combining the possibilities of conventional medicine and naturopathy in the best possible way in a holistic approach”. The project is “unique in Germany” and is currently being funded by the Free State with around 87,000 euros.

The foundation wants to evaluate how well methods of integrative medicine work against post-Covid. Conventional medicine (including oxygen therapy here) and scientifically based naturopathy are interlinked with lifestyle modifications, the promotion of exercise and nutritional science. Ultimately, it should be determined to what extent the therapeutic approaches are suitable for inclusion in standard care. Post-Covid could massively restrict the quality of life of those affected. Symptoms could be chronic exhaustion, headaches and concentration problems. Holetschek emphasized: “The effects of post-Covid will keep our society and our healthcare system busy for a long time. The knowledge about the mechanisms behind the disease is still insufficient.” The project also includes a day clinic concept.
