These countries tighten the corona rules again

The federal states and the federal government have agreed on new requirements in the fight against the pandemic. In addition to the unvaccinated, these meanwhile also affect those who have not yet received their third vaccination. Several countries are now sharpening their regulations.

With a view to the expanding Omikron variant, the federal and state governments have decided on one slight tightening of restrictions communicated. However, Chancellor Olaf Scholz also made it clear that they were keeping an eye on developments and were ready to make quick adjustments to the measures. “If something needs to be done, we act immediately,” said the SPD politician. Everything that is necessary is done. “There will be no delay.”

In the federal states, however, the implementation of the resolutions in the respective ordinances begins first. In doing so, the states can certainly go beyond the agreements. The federal government and the states had repeatedly agreed that the mutual understanding was only a kind of upper limit and that the states are free to go beyond this – especially if the state parliaments have determined the epidemic emergency.

Bremen

In view of the wave of infections, the new warning level four has come into force in Bremen. This means that the 2G-Plus rule now applies in restaurants, culture and sports facilities. Only those who are fully vaccinated or have recovered with an additional test are allowed to use them. This does not apply to people whose second or booster vaccination was recently given. Excluded are among others boosted. The background to this is that the seven-day incidence of hospitalizations per 100,000 inhabitants and week is above the threshold value of 9. The already applicable contact restrictions remain in place.

Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania

In the northeast, the red corona traffic light level has been in effect since today – regardless of the most recent federal-state meeting. Clubs, discos, cinemas, swimming pools and fun pools as well as indoor areas of zoos and botanical gardens are closed. Events with spectators are no longer allowed. As in Bremen, the reason is that the threshold value of 9 has been exceeded. The restrictions will only be lifted when it slips below this mark for five days.

Furthermore, meetings for vaccinated and convalescent people are only allowed with a maximum of ten people. Children up to the age of 14 do not count. The restriction on gatherings in which unvaccinated people are involved also remains in place. Only one household and two people from another household may meet, but no more than ten people.
