New record audience for TF1, with 17.7 million viewers ahead of France-England

The World Cup in Qatar is a series of hits for TF1. The last victory of the French team, Saturday against England (2-1) in the quarter-finals, was thus followed by 17.7 million viewers, according to figures from Médiamétrie quoted by the channel. This is the best audience of the year for TF1, and even a record since 2018 with an audience share of 62.8% on Saturday evening, and a peak of 20.1 million viewers at 10 p.m. , the channel said.

“It’s also the best audience for a FIFA World Cup quarter-final since 2006,” she added. The previous victory of the Blues against Poland (3-1), in the round of 16 of this World Cup, had already been watched by 14.3 million viewers a week ago on TF1, the only channel to broadcast the competition in France. The matches of the Kylian Mbappé band are also broadcast on BeIN Sports on a paid basis.

France-Poland was so far the best audience of the Blues since the start of the tournament in Qatar, despite calls for a boycott. In their first match against Australia (4-1), they had already been watched by 12.5 million viewers. We dare to imagine the figures for the France-Morocco semi-final, which will take place on Wednesday (8 p.m.).
